Doinita Folk Ensemble was selected to represent Romania at 2 international folk festivals in Mexico, one in Cordoba Veracruz, the other in Zacatecas, between the 21st of July to the 8th of August 2019.
Our tour started with a glifht from Bucharest to Toronto, where we also had a 9 hours flight change. We decided to take advantage of it! After making sure we have valid visas, we had a short but lovely visit in Toronto - Canada.
Ariving in Mexico, we benefitted of a nice welcoming from the festival organizers, that expected us in the airport and took us to Cordoba, to our first festival. A week later, the transfer to the second festival was also assured by the organizers. During the full period of the second festival, in Zacatecas, we had 2 security agents that accompanied the group, for our safety.
From the artist's point of view, the Mexican public was a delight for us. They were interested in the Romanian folklore, they had many kind, appreciative words, warm applauses and parades with more watchers that we ever had, at any festival before. We were truly impressed by the size of the Zacatecas festival, that invited folk groups from Colombia, Canada, Peru, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Poland and Chile.
When the festivals ended, we visited the famous Teotihuacan pyramids and we also had a short visit of the capital, Mexico City, wherw we stayed for 6 hours before heading towards the airport.
